Guide to Nail Removal in 6 Easy Steps
Nail removal is not a light subject, its highly painful, and often will leave your finger/toe in pain for a few days. If you plan on doing alot of walking, try and avoid fully removal any toe nail.
To remove a nail, you should really be a casual/frequent nail biter, otherwise the pain you will get, will be so much worse than that of someone who doesn't bite them alot. However, if you have a high pain tolerance, this won't really matter too much.
1 . The first step, is to bite the nail as short as you can get it. This is so that there is less to 'rip' off near the end, and reduces the risk of a pre-break.
2 . Once your happy that you can't bite your nail any lower, you must then start on one side of the nail, and bite down. You will find that after enough biting, you will be able to remove part of the side from the root of the finger.
3 . The next step, I would recommend using a pair of tweasers for. This is because your mouth is full of germs, and obviously, the risk of infection is something you want to remove. Simply get one side of the tweasers under the side of the nail, and pull.
4 . This will be exceedingly painful if this is your first time, and it will be a slow process. Have alot of tissue near, as it will bleed alot. Basically, you need to keep pulling at the nail, and it will slowly, come off.
5 . Once the nail is off, wrap some tissue round it for 10-15 minutes, until it stops bleeding. The time it takes will vary, depending on how deep you pull the nail out from. Once it has stopped bleeding, move on to step 6.
6 . Find an antiseptic cream, such as Savlon or Sudo Cream, and apply this to a bandage. Wrap the bandage around the finger/toe, ensuring there is adequate padding. After this has been done, apply a plaster strip to keep the bandage on. If your toe/finger does happen to become infected, apply a small amount of Magnesium Sulphate to the wound, this will remove the toxins, and hopefully remove the infection. Often though, 3-4 days will see the pain going away, and a new nail forming.
